Nadia Lassman
Nadia Lassman’s So Happy to be Here is a bright, delicate water-lily painting centred on pink blossoms floating among soft green lily pads. The main flower at upper left is open and sunlit, with warm coral, pink, yellow and cream tones, while the smaller bud at lower right adds balance and a sense of unfolding growth.
The composition has an airy, peaceful quality. Much of the background is pale blue-lavender water, softly brushed so that the pond feels reflective and almost mist-like. The lily pads are loosely defined in fresh greens, yellows and touches of turquoise, with darker accents giving them just enough structure without making the image feel heavy.
Lassman’s handling is impressionistic and light. The visible canvas texture, broken brushwork and blurred edges create a feeling of movement across the water, as though the flowers and pads are gently drifting. The title So Happy to be Here suits the work well: the painting feels joyful, fresh and optimistic, capturing the simple beauty of water lilies in bloom.
