Nadia Lassman
Nadia Lassman’s All is Calm is a soft, luminous water-lily painting built around pale white blossoms floating on a quiet pond. The composition is airy and delicate, with much of the surface given over to misty water in soft whites, pale lavender, light blue and faint pink tones.
The main focus is the cluster of white water lilies near the lower centre. Their petals are loosely painted with creamy whites, touches of yellow and subtle green shadows, giving them a gentle glow without hard outlines. Around them, lily pads drift across the surface in fresh greens and blue-greens, while smaller blossoms appear in the distance, creating a sense of depth and stillness.
The title All is Calm suits the work well. Unlike the brighter yellow energy of All Fired Up, this painting feels hushed, peaceful and almost weightless. Lassman uses loose brushwork and a restrained palette to suggest reflection, water, light and atmosphere rather than detailed botanical accuracy.
