The form appears to twist and open as it rises, with a recessed hollow near the upper section creating a deep pocket of shadow.
The dark polished marble is crossed by fine natural veining in pale green and grey, adding visual movement across the surface. Beder uses the stone’s natural colour and patterning as part of the composition, balancing smooth, highly finished areas with subtle irregularities in the marble.
Although abstract, the sculpture suggests an organic or figurative presence. Its curves, hollows and shifting planes give it the feeling of a form emerging from within the stone itself, making the title especially appropriate.
