The lower half is dominated by deep turquoise, emerald green, blue and violet, with darker purple blossoms emerging from the thick foliage.
Across the middle of the composition, brilliant yellow flowers form a luminous band, punctuated by touches of orange, red, white and pink. Above, the palette becomes lighter and more diffuse, with pale whites, soft greens and warm golds suggesting distance and bright atmospheric light.
Drum builds the scene through energetic, layered brushwork and repeated dabs of colour rather than precise botanical detail. The result is less a literal garden view than an immersive impression of abundance, movement and light. The richness of the surface gives the painting a tapestry-like quality, while the strong vertical format draws the eye upward through successive bands of flowers and foliage.
