Bruno Capolongo’s Twilight, Whistler Mountain presents a dramatic alpine landscape at the fading edge of day. Snow-covered peaks rise sharply across the upper half of the composition, their ridges defined in warm mauves, rusts, deep violets, and creamy whites beneath a cool blue-violet sky.
The mountain forms are strongly modelled, with broad, expressive strokes emphasizing the angular structure of the peaks and the sweeping accumulation of snow. Violet and blue shadows settle into the lower slopes, creating a striking contrast with the pale snowfields and warmer exposed rock.
In the foreground, dark evergreens frame the scene, including a tall, irregular tree at left that acts as a strong vertical counterpoint to the horizontal mountain range. Patches of snow sweep across the foreground ridge in lavender, blue, and white, while areas of deep green and reddish-brown earth remain exposed beneath.
The twilight setting gives the landscape a heightened, almost theatrical quality. Capolongo combines saturated colour, strong contour, and energetic brushwork to convey both the grandeur of Whistler Mountain and the changing light of evening, with the cool shadows and warm mountain faces creating a vivid sense of depth and atmosphere.
