Nadia Lassman
Nadia Lassman’s Delightful Lily Pond is a soft, airy floral painting of water lilies floating across a pale reflective pond. The composition is open and delicate, with much of the surface devoted to misty water in light blue, lavender, cream and pale green tones. Clusters of lily pads drift across the pond, while pink and white blossoms provide gentle points of colour.
The main focus is the group of pink water lilies at right centre. They are loosely painted with warm rose, coral, white and yellow touches, giving them a fresh, sunlit quality. Smaller lilies appear in the distance, including a tiny red-pink bloom near the upper right and warmer yellow-white flowers toward the left. These scattered blossoms create a sense of depth and movement across the water.
The painting has an impressionistic, dreamlike feeling. Rather than defining every lily pad or reflection, Lassman uses soft brushwork, transparent colour and visible canvas texture to suggest light, water and atmosphere. The result is calm and graceful, with the pond appearing almost veiled in morning mist.
