The Butterfly by Bruno Capolongo is an 8 x 6 inch oil on canvas panel that was produced in 2024 and is signed on the bottom right. The piece depicts a statue of a young child with a butterfly perched on his arm. The boy seems to be peering down at the butterfly as dark brushstrokes frame his silhouette and add drama to the piece. A limited palette of blue and grey adds further drama.
The Butterfly was painted in Capolongo’s garden en plein air. He is very fond of painting on location and capturing renowned gardens and natural landscapes during his travels. Capolongo also produces still life pieces and Kintsugi style artwork inspired by the traditional Japanese art technique.
