Echoes of Byzantium by Canadian artist, Bruno Capolongo (b.1971) is a 10 x 8 inch oil on canvas panel produced in 2024 and signed on the bottom right. The piece depicts a Ukrainian church that is located near the artist’s home. The church is in a neo-Byzantine style, featuring an impressive array of domes and arches. The piece was painted en plein air and utilizes deep emerald green hues and dark shadows to add mystery and intrigue to the scene. The vertical composition emphasizes the height of the structure and the vast sky above.

Capolongo recently started focusing on adding more landscapes to his body of work, taking most of his inspiration from his home country of Canada but also from his travels to Europe, specifically Italy. He is an established artist of Neapolitan descent with a record of hundreds of exhibitions.
