Caroline Armington’s Le Petit Moulin À Versailles is a finely detailed black-and-white etching that presents a picturesque old mill house set beside still water and enclosed by dense trees. The building rises in irregular, charming forms, with steep roofs, tall chimneys, shuttered windows, and a small adjoining wing that gives it the feeling of an old rural dwelling altered over time. In the foreground, the water reflects the house and the bank in broken, lightly rippling lines, adding calm and balance to the composition.

In Le Petit Moulin À Versailles, Caroline Armington uses an intricate web of etched lines to build both structure and atmosphere. The foliage is especially rich, almost enveloping the house in a mass of curling, flickering marks, while the architecture is rendered with greater firmness and clarity. This contrast between the ordered geometry of the mill and the lively, textured surrounding trees gives the etching much of its visual interest. The overall effect is quiet and intimate, capturing an old corner of Versailles with both precision and a gentle sense of age and shelter.
