Back of Sherbourne Street by Albert Franck is a 12 x 10 inch oil on masonite that was produced in 1970 and signed and dated in the bottom right corner. It depicts a snowy residential street in downtown Toronto on an overcast day. Franck uses warm but neutral tones in the houses that contrasts with the white of the snow. His use of limited colour and simple shapes emphasizes the cold and solitude of the winter months in the city.

Franck was well known for his Toronto streetscapes that capture the essence of its neighbourhoods. His iconic oil and watercolour paintings preserve the memory of a city that once was.
