Tom Roberts' Cove Reflections portrays a quiet fishing harbour where weathered buildings stand on timber wharves above still water. At the centre of the composition, a modest boathouse with a moss-covered roof extends over the shoreline on wooden pilings, while a larger dwelling rises behind it. Additional sheds and fishing structures recede into the hazy distance, creating a sense of depth and the timeless character of a small maritime community.

A red fishing boat tied alongside the wharf provides the composition's strongest accent of colour, its reflection shimmering gently in the calm water. A smaller blue boat floats farther back near another building, while several white gulls circle overhead, adding movement to the otherwise tranquil scene. The rocky shoreline, worn wharf timbers, and simple architecture evoke the everyday rhythms of a working fishing village.

Executed in transparent watercolour, the painting is built from soft washes of grey, olive green, brown, and muted blue. Roberts uses delicate transitions, minimal detail, and broad areas of untouched paper to convey misty light and mirror-like reflections. The calm water becomes the focal point of the composition, doubling the buildings and boats while reinforcing the quiet atmosphere. The result is a peaceful maritime scene that celebrates the understated beauty of Canada's coastal communities through light, reflection, and careful observation.
