October Morning, Near Les Eboulements by Lorne Bouchard is a 12 x 15.5 inch oil on panel produced in 1952 and signed in the bottom right hand corner. The piece is also signed, titled and dated on the reverse.
The painting depicts a coastal landscape as seen from the surrounding hilltops. A worker toils in the field alongside his horse and cart. The orange, yellow and rust coloured foliage that lines the hill compliments the bright blue sky above. Bouchard uses a strong contrast between light and dark to convey the brilliance of the sun as it reflects off the water. His subtle blend of colours adds peace and tranquility to the scene.
