Paul Fournier’s Florida Mirror, Open Yellow is an abstract composition dominated by a large, radiant field of lemon yellow. This central area appears almost like an open window, mirror, or illuminated interior, surrounded by a loosely drawn border of pale blue, lavender, and white.

Bands of energetic colour gather along the upper and lower edges. Across the top, irregular marks in green, orange, yellow, brown, and deep violet form a lively, fragmented canopy. Along the bottom, denser clusters of blue, red, purple, and green resemble vegetation, reflections, or scattered architectural forms. Their rough, broken contours create a strong contrast with the comparatively calm and expansive yellow centre.

The dry, textured application of the pastel produces a soft, grainy surface, while the visible white paper keeps the colours bright and airy. Fournier balances openness with concentrated passages of movement, suggesting the intense light, tropical growth, and saturated colour associated with Florida without describing a specific landscape.
