The Last Glow of Sunset by Henry Harold Vickers is a 5.8 x 8.5 inch oil on panel that was produced in 1899 and signed and dated in the bottom right corner. The painting depicts a dirt path wrapping around a small, shallow pond. Tall trees and shrubs line the simple walkway and a trio of cattle can be seen congregating beneath their shade. Farmer’s fields roll off into the distance, creating a quiet solitude in this piece. The sun’s golden light can still be seen, fading behind the trees before darkness falls.
This painting was on display at Haynes Art Gallery in Toronto before being added to the Rookleys collection.
