Victoria Bridge, Montreal by Ernst Neumann is an 18 x 24 inch oil on masonite that was produced circa 1952 and signed in the bottom right corner. It has inventory #C376 on the reverse as well as an image of Victoria Bridge taken from the Montreal Gazette.
The painting depicts a coastal landscape, the viewer looking out over the St. Lawrence river. Tall blades of bright green grass line the shore, giving way to vast flowing water beyond. In the distance, the faint outline of Victoria Bridge can be seen. Its silhouette dissects the composition, dividing the sea and sky. Neumann uses a combination of blues and greens to convey a coolness in the air. As wind flows across the water, gentle waves form on its surface and sweeping clouds fill the air.
