The white lighthouse stands near the upper centre of the composition, its red roof providing a crisp focal accent against the brilliant blue sky.
The foreground is dominated by shallow water and exposed shoreline, painted in loose, energetic strokes of turquoise, blue, green, yellow, cream, and grey. Reflections ripple across the surface, broken by small patches of vegetation and scattered debris along the water’s edge. The broad treatment of the foreground gives the scene a strong sense of movement and summer light.
Beyond, the lighthouse is set against a low strip of land and distant trees. To the left, darker green foliage and a wooded shoreline provide visual weight and contrast with the open water and sky. Puffy white clouds drift across the blue above, reinforcing the warm, open atmosphere of the day.
Cheung uses a lively, impressionistic handling of paint throughout, favouring colour and movement over precise detail. The result is a fresh, luminous interpretation of Point Abino in summer, with the lighthouse appearing as a calm, enduring landmark within the shifting light, water, and sky of Lake Erie.
