This maritime landscape depicts the coast of New Brunswick. The sky dominates the composition while a solitary sailboat sits on the water, dwarfed by the enormous clouds above. Hills can be seen off into the distance, adding depth to the piece. Russell uses varying shades of blue complimented by green and purple to elicit the tranquil feeling of being by the sea.
This painting was part of the Roger A. Lindsay collection before coming to Rookleys Canadian Art.
