Sailboats sit out on the still waters of the early morning dawn, the sun’s light just starting to appear beyond the horizon. Payne uses soft brush strokes and a warm colour palette full of rich jewel tones to portray this tranquil seascape. Wooden houses frame the composition on either side, creating a sense of space as the viewer peers out into the open water.
