Old Barns, Ditchling, Sussex was produced in 1975 by Henry Glyde (1906-1998). This 10 x 12 inch oil on board depicts a country scene where farm workers toil in an open field. The colour palette is predominantly cool but hints of orange add warmth and sweeping brush strokes bring lots of movement to the piece.
Born in England, Glyde moved to Canada in the mid 1930’s and made an indelible mark on the Art and Culture of Alberta and Western Canada over his lifetime. His career spanned over thirty years and he is remembered for his dedication to art education and community engagement.
