Oriental Interior, 1978 by York Wilson is a 10 x 6.5 Christmas card signed on inside. The bright red hues in blocks and planes throughout the piece are a flamboyant touch. The abstraction is modern and unique, with stylistic inspiration perhaps from an ornamented rug, or interior textures. The assertive colour scheme of maroon, black, and tan complement and contrast the bright holiday red exquisitely. Texture is added in the middle right of the piece, with an overlay of cork-coloured, almost tv static, and stringy fur overlay with maroon backing. An imitation of calligraphic form within the upper tan parts crosses the dimensions of string and static where they switch the directional linework and become thinner.
