Devonshire, a historic county in the southwest of England, is known for its rolling countryside, pastoral farms, and charming rural villages that have long inspired artists and writers.
Robert Genn (1936–2014) was a Canadian landscape painter and educator born in Victoria, British Columbia. He studied at Victoria College, the University of British Columbia, and the Art Centre School in Los Angeles. Over a long career, Genn painted extensively across Canada, the United States, and Europe, developing a style rooted in Canadian landscape traditions but with his own luminous and thoughtful approach. He founded Painter’s Keys, a widely read newsletter that offered advice, inspiration, and insight to artists internationally, fostering a global artistic community. His work is held in private collections and galleries across Canada, and he is celebrated for his ability to capture both the form and spirit of the landscapes he painted.
