Springtime in the City by Tom Roberts is a 20 x 26 inch oil on board that was produced circa 1955 and is signed in the bottom right corner. The painting depicts an urban streetscape on a rainy day. A trio of ladies can be seen chatting on the corner holding umbrellas and wearing brightly coloured jackets. Tall trees line the sidewalk, their trunks reflected in the water that is pooling on the street below. Simple stone houses in the foreground give way to larger structures beyond.

Roberts had the ability to capture the magic in everyday moments. His paintings inspire nostalgia and sentiment, acting as time capsules in an ever evolving world.
