The piece depicts a sunny mountain scene overlooking a sun-drenched river. There are wildflowers and lush trees lining the hills. Fraser paints with incredible detail, using a palette of predominantly blue and green. He uses a variety of watercolour techniques and a strong contrast between light and dark to capture the environment and define the foreground.
Fraser was known for his highly realistic landscapes and meticulous attention to detail. He had a true mastery of watercolour and was well respected for his craft. He painted in both Canada and the United States during his career and did work for the Canadian Pacific Railway.
