Taylor is an 8 x 6.5 inch oil on panel produced in 1940 and signed in the bottom right hand corner. It is also signed, titled and dated July, 1940 on the reverse side. The painting depicts two figures at the base of a massive water wheel. The individuals are dressed in brightly coloured clothing and seem to be chatting as they work in the rocky banks of the river. The mill is framed by bright green foliage. This composition gives the feeling of looking in on a private moment. The scene transports the viewer to a simpler time of the past.
This painting was part of a private collection in Montreal before joining us at Rookleys.
