Jazmine Tara Miller’s Blue Ridge is a luminous abstract composition built from layered passages of turquoise, cobalt, aqua, green, and deep indigo. The upper portion of the painting is dense and atmospheric, with saturated blues and darker tones gathering near the top, while the lower half gradually opens into pale, almost weightless areas of blue and white.

Miller’s broad gestures and translucent layers create a sense of movement without defining a specific subject. The forms can suggest mist drifting across mountains, water cascading through rock, or light filtering through an underwater environment. Areas of scraped and brushed texture remain visible throughout the surface, giving the painting a sense of depth and allowing earlier layers of colour to emerge beneath later ones.

The gradual transition from darkness to light gives Blue Ridge a contemplative quality. Rather than describing a particular landscape, Miller evokes the sensation of distance, atmosphere, and changing light, creating an immersive image that balances depth and mystery with openness and calm.
