Peter Cheung’s Sky Over Point Abino Lighthouse presents the historic lighthouse beneath a vast, turbulent sky. Thick, energetic brushstrokes build sweeping clouds in blue, grey, white and pale yellow, creating a strong sense of changing weather and movement above Lake Erie. The lighthouse rises from its stone pier near the centre of the composition, its warm brown and ochre tones standing against the cooler atmosphere.

Broken reflections and bands of white paint suggest waves moving around the pier, while the dark shoreline at right provides a strong visual anchor. Cheung’s expressive handling of oil paint emphasizes light, wind and atmosphere rather than architectural detail, capturing Point Abino Lighthouse as a solitary and enduring presence within the shifting lakeside landscape.
