In Forest Path (1917), George Agnew Reid depicts a quiet, wooded landscape painted in oil on canvas. In the center of the composition is a magical footpath that winds through a glowing forest. The palette is warm and earthy palette, consisting of soft browns, muted greens, and ochres.

Known for his genre scenes and landscapes, Reid was an important figure in early Canadian art and an influential educator. He studied in Paris and Philadelphia before becoming principal of the Ontario College of Art. This painting reflects Reid’s interest in capturing rural Canada with both realism and light, emphasizing the immersive qualities of natural spaces. The work measures 18 x 24 inches and is signed and dated 1917 in the lower left corner.
