Painting a vibrant summer day without a single cloud in the sky. A warm Summer Afternoon, oil, signed on the right bottom, 18 x 24. From the top of the trees to patchy grass ground, there’s a buzz of vibrancy in this colour pallet that lures the eye wherever it lands first. The ground has a mini marsh between groups of tree forest, where the strokes of blue reflect onto the light blue sky. Imagine hikers or painters wandering through the branches towards the span of little woodland in the distance.
The red and orange bark, leaves each tree subject with personality, giving a tropical spice to the landscape. Its foreground subject is painted with looser brushstrokes on the crown of the tree, with perspective from a small canopy of forest trees to its right. The emotion-immersive afternoon is distinct in this spirited painting.
The painting comes directly to Rookleys from the artist’s Crystal Beach studio.
