Drowned Spruce, Niagara Wetlands is a lively example of local Crystal Beach artist David Drum’s forest landscapes. Known for his long-reaching skinny trees, this 20 x 24 inch piece depicts just that; some painted in a dark hunter green, while others are painted in baby pinks or bright highly saturated hot pinks. This variation in colour thereby creates contrast, bringing interest to the piece.

Much like most of Drum’s more recent work, Drowned Spruce, Niagara Wetlands, painted in 2024 was produced in the artist’s Crystal Beach Studio. Drum records this provenance on the back of the piece, along with its date of creation and medium. This piece was painted in oil paint and glazes onto foamcore.

Drum’s signature can be found in the bottom right corner of the piece in red. The presence of his signature certifies the authenticity of the painting and marks it as a completed and finished piece of work.
