Bomb Aimer, C. Charlie, Battle of the Ruhr is a lithograph on buff wove paper that portrays an intense moment of battle from World War II. The circular composition and expressive line work in the piece hones the viewer in on a lone bomber, engaged in warfare.
Schaefer, who served as an official war artist for Canada, created many works that documented dramatic scenes of war. He worked in graphite, ink and watercolour and besides scenes of war, specialized in landscape art.
