Capilano Reservation by William Percy Weston is a 13 x 16 inch oil on panel that was produced in 1957 and is signed and dated in the bottom left corner. It is also signed, titled and dated on the reverse. The painting depicts a simple wooden shack nestled deep in the forest, completely surrounded by an overgrowth of trees and tall grasses. The sunlight cascades over the abandoned shelter while the rest of the composition is shrouded in shadow. The remains of an abandoned car seem to jut out of the shrubbery while the twisted trunks of the encroaching trees loom eerily over the structure. Weston uses predominantly green tones combined with warm earth hues to set the scene. This piece was on display at Heffel Fine Art in Toronto before being added to the Rookleys collection.
