In Eventide Reflections, Wilkie Kilgour looks through a stand of tall trees toward a quiet stretch of water and distant fields. Dark trunks and dense green foliage frame the view, creating a strong vertical rhythm across the composition. Beyond them, the water reflects the pale evening sky in soft cream and silvery tones, interrupted by bands of marshland and a vivid blue-violet horizon.
The foreground is painted with energetic strokes of green, ochre, turquoise and touches of red, suggesting wild vegetation along the sloping shore. A rustic fence runs near the water’s edge, adding a human element to the otherwise peaceful landscape. Kilgour balances the shadowed woodland against the luminous open water, capturing the stillness and subdued colour of the landscape at eventide.
