Indian Harbour by Tom Roberts is an 8 x 12 inch oil on board that was produced circa 1970 and signed in the bottom right corner. The piece depicts a wooden structure on the shores of a rocky sea. The building is elevated on wooden beams to protect it from the lash of the ocean’s violent waves. Seagulls fly over the water before stopping to rest on the simple property, its roof the perfect vantage point to look out over the grey fog that envelopes the scene.

Roberts uses a neutral colour palette to portray this drab and dreary landscape which was bought by the Nova Scotia Hotel before being added to the Rookleys collection.
