Pines on the Shoreline by Frederick Stanley Haines is a 16 x 20 inch oil on board produced circa 1940 and signed in the bottom right corner. The painting depicts the rocky shores of Georgian Bay, the sun shining down on its calm waters. A lone pine is the focal point of the composition, an iconic symbol seen throughout Canadian art. Haines uses a colour palette dominated by rich green jewel tones and dotted with flecks of red and yellow wild flowers. A strong sense of light and dark adds interest to the piece, drawing the viewer into the tranquil scene.

This piece was framed by the Framing and Art Centre in Guelph and was on display at Gallery Phillip in Don Mills, Ontario before being on display at Rookleys Canadian Art.
