Study for the White Tree by L.A.C. Panton is a 16 x 14 inch oil on board produced in 1948 and signed in the bottom right corner. This dark and moody landscape painting depicts a forest of ominous looking trees. Panton uses a palette dominated by deep earth tones to create a mysterious quality. His use of abstracted figures and blend of shape and line add movement and expression to the piece.
Study for the White Tree used to be part of the private collection of Herbert and Margot Ariss. It was on display at the Michael Gibson Gallery in London, Ontario and Consigner Canadian Fine Art before becoming part of the Rookleys collection.
