Peace (Sketch for Spring) by George Agnew Reid is a 24.625 x 8 inch pastel on paper that is protected by museum glass. It was produced circa 1915 and is signed in the bottom left corner. This vertical piece depicts a woman in a long white gown. The fabric of the dress drapes around her silhouette and pools at her feet. She dawns an olive branch in her hand as she looks out into a distance that cannot be seen. Her figure completely fills the composition. A brilliant blue sky hangs over her head, scattered with clouds.
Agnew uses a colour palette dominated by tones of green that add further mystery to the piece. It was on display at the Roberts Gallery and Cowley-Abbot in Toronto before becoming part of the Rookleys Canadian Art collection.
