Siwash House Posts, Tsatsisnukomi, B.C. by Walter Joseph Phillips is a 8 x 6.25 inch woodcut on paper that is protected by museum glass. The piece was produced in 1928 and is signed in the bottom right corner. It is number 143 out of 300 in the series. The woodcut depicts two large totem poles that dominate the foreground of the composition. Their faces look out onto a body of water while their backs turn toward the viewer. A canoe can be seen laying on the sand in front of the totems and a simple structure sits on the edge of the water in the distance, adding depth and perspective to the scene.

Phillips had the distinct ability to capture the essence of nature in his colourful woodblock works. This piece was on display at Waddington’s before becoming part of the Rookleys collection.
