At South East Corner of Mission Lake by Ernest Luthi is an 8.3 x 11.4 inch oil on board produced in 1963 and signed in the bottom left corner. It is also titled and dated March 31, 1963 on the reverse of the painting. The piece depicts a solitary cabin nestled amongst overhanging trees along the shores of a lake. An escarpment can be seen in the distance, surrounding the shelter while a dirt path in the foreground leads the viewer's eye towards the small house and into the composition. Luthi uses a beautiful combination of jewel tones to convey a sense of warmth and tranquility in this scene, his layers of colour bringing the landscape to life.
