York Wilson’s Parc Montsouris is one of a series of original holiday cards the artist sent annually to friends and collectors, a heartfelt tradition that spanned from the early 1970s until shortly after his death in 1984. Each card features a small print from Wilson’s Geometric Works phase (1966–1971) on the front.
This particular card features a small print of his work Parc Montsouris on the front. The composition is rendered in a geometric abstraction. The palette is crisp ochres, reds, blacks and oranges, with splashes of neon green.

Though titled after the Park in France, the image avoids literal representation. Instead, it conveys the atmosphere and structure of a park through carefully arranged forms and a controlled palette.

The inside of the card contains a seasonal message, personally signed York Wilson

The interior reads;

"Warmest Greetings for Christmas and All the Best for the New Year" which is then signed "Love Lela and York"

Parc Montsouris is a 15.5-hectare public park in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, near the Cité Universitaire. It was commissioned by Napoleon III and designed by Jean-Charles Alphand, one of the key engineers behind the creation of several major Parisian parks in the mid-19th century. The park officially opened in 1878 as part of Napoleon III’s vision to give each quadrant of Paris a large public green space, complementing the Bois de Boulogne in the west, Bois de Vincennes in the east, and Parc des Buttes-Chaumont in the north. The park was designed in the English landscape garden style, featuring rolling lawns, winding paths, water features including a large artificial lake, and a variety of mature trees and plantings. Parc Montsouris provides a peaceful green retreat within the bustling city of Paris, popular for walks, picnics, and outdoor activities.

This Christmas card measures 7.5 x 5.5 inches and is signed by York Wilson and Lela Wilson on the interior.
