The Path Forward by David Drum is a 24 x 34 inch mixed media on reverse glass panel produced in 2021. It is signed on the back so that it is able to be hung whichever way pleases the viewer and comes to Rookleys directly from Drum’s Crystal Beach Studio. This abstract expressionist piece uses bold colour and layers of texture to create an intriguing design that draws the viewer’s eye around the composition. Drum actually painted directly on the glass itself. He uses a strong contrast between light and dark as well as complimentary colours to develop this dazzling image, combining oil paint with gold glitter and even iridescent automotive paints to achieve his desired effect.

Drum’s series of reversed glass art is a collaborative effort between himself and wife, Barbara, that allows them to experiment with different mediums and techniques to create spontaneous, highly expressive abstract pieces that each have their own unique look and feel.
