Stumps in Lake #1 by Jack Beder is an 11 x 12 inch watercolour on paper that was produced in 1956 and is signed in the bottom left and signed and dated in the bottom right. This vivid watercolour depicts a cluster of weathered tree stumps emerging from the surface of a lake. The lighter greens, blues, and browns of the stumps are beautiful against the vibrant greens and deep blues of the lake. Beder’s confident brushwork and layered washes give a depth to the lake water and the tree stumps.
