In Reed’s Cove, NB (1951), Jack Beder captures a secluded coastal scene along New Brunswick’s eastern shoreline near Gardner Creek. Gardner Creek is a coastal community located in Saint John County, New Brunswick, Canada. Located by the Bay of Fundy, it is part of the province's extensive maritime landscape. In this painting, the composition centers on a rocky cove, with gently sloping hills framing the shoreline. Historically, such coves were vital for fishing and small-scale boat launching.

The shoreline anchors the foreground, guiding the viewer’s eye toward the softly rising hills in the background. The palette features a rich variety of browns and greys, complemented by hints of forest green crowning the hilltops.

This oil on masonite measures 10.5 x 14 inches and is signed by the artist on the lower right. It is featured on page 75 of Jack Beder: Life and Art in Canada (2025), a publication by Rookleys Canadian Art Gallery, and is catalogued as inventory #484 from the Beder estate. This piece was also included in the Jack Beder: Life and Art in Canada exhibition at Rookleys Canadian Art Gallery.
